Today marks the official launch of Zepeel, a mobile dating application that is bringing reality back to the world of online dating. The London-based startup is focused on the growing mobile application market, with the Zepeel app currently available on the iOS platform.
In online dating communication is key. Zepeel has a unique approach to profile development, requiring users to take real-time profile photograph when creating their account. Once an account is setup users have the option of creating a video-based profile, allowing for a more accurate depiction of each user’s attitudes, looks and behaviours. With misrepresentation and identity theft running rampant in the traditional online dating platforms, Zepeel’s real-time photos and videos are a refreshing reality check in what can be an intimidating and overwhelming market.
Think you’ve found a potential match? After messaging a user try taking it to the next level with Zepeel’s video chat capabilities. Video chatting in real-time offers the advantage of being able to see exactly who you’re talking to and find out if you have a connection before investing even more time and money into meeting in person.
The London-based team behind Zepeel consists of Steve Szikszay, David Billson, Brent Mountford, Jason Armstrong, and Shannon Toshack. The Zepeel app is the result of research into the online dating market Szikszay completed as part of his MBA thesis project.
